Ohio Ethics which I believe applies to school administrators

Some Reviews

From an employee

Employee (Former Employee)

Glassdoor.com
I worked at Connections Academy full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Working at home. Most of the families were extremely nice.
Cons – Does not follow the rules of a real school. Managers promote whoever they wish as long as that person is their friend. People have high management positions with no management experience or training. Rules are made up as they go along. There is so much confusion.
Advice to Senior Management – Promote people who have experience, not just people who are "buddies." Get a clear vision for this school. Is this legal what goes on at this school? Has this school ever been investigated? They should.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Somtimes where there is smoke there is fire.

Again, track the money.  How much actually stays in Ohio?  The Ohio Tax money and title funds gets siphoned off to pay for the executives in Baltimore.

Quid Pro Quo, unethical?

Ohio Ethics law

What is improper influence?  I think below is a prime example.  There should be an investigation by Ohio Connections Academy, by the board or the State auditor.

Any conflict of interest here?  I think the answer is obvious.

Ray Lambert and Marie Hanna running there own fiefdom at Ohio Connections Academy

Personal and professional interests collide.

Here is some information from the Ohio auditor's site:

Investigation

Our Investigation section is responsible for investigating alleged violations of the Ohio Ethics Law and related statutes and refers cases supported by substantial evidence for prosecution or alternative resolution.
You may contact an Ethics Commission Special Investigator at (614) 466-7090 to determine whether or not your allegation falls within the authority of the Commission, as defined in Ohio’s Ethics Law. Once this determination is made, the Investigator will mail to you an Allegation Form to be completed and returned to the Commission.

The Investigative Process

OVERVIEW
Any information indicating that a public official or employee may have violated provisions of the Ethics Law can be referred to the ethics agency that has jurisdiction over the public official or employee in question. Allegation forms are available from the Ethics Commission to refer potential violations of the Ethics Law by public officials and employees.
Please be aware that all Commission investigations and hearings are CONFIDENTIAL. Breach of confidentiality by Commission members or employees is potentially a criminal offense.

(D) No public official or employee shall use or authorize the use of the authority or influence of office or employment to secure anything of value or the promise or offer of anything of value that is of such a character as to manifest a substantial and improper influence upon the public official or employee with respect to that person's duties.
(E) No public official or employee shall solicit or accept anything of value that is of such a character as to manifest a substantial and improper influence upon the public official or employee with respect to that person's duties.
(F) No person shall promise or give to a public official or employee anything of value that is of such a character as to manifest a substantial and improper influence upon the public official or employee with respect to that person's duties.

Here is the purchase from Marie to Ray after the promotion and after the house hunting trips.  10 days after her review by Ray Lambert.  Ethics anyone?  I understand the Connections Academy is aware of this and that Marie Hanna sent her secretary to court on school time to testify about the timeline for her divorce but no action was taken.

I hope it is a really nice table.  I did ask for half of it back in the divorce plus whateever other gifts she bestowed.

II. Conflict of Interest
Violations of R.C. sections 102.03, 102.04 and 102.07 are first-degree misdemeanor criminal offenses, punishable by a fine of up to $1000 and/or a maximum of 6 months in jail. See R.C. sections 102.99(B); 2929.21.

I wonder if this effect your license?

This is not a sext, according to Marie

Did I mention the phone?

Marie Hanna bought a disposable phone.  One of those burn phones.  While we were going through  counseling she denied having any kind of inappropriate relationship with Ray M Lambert.  She was naked in my bed when I heard an unfamiliar noise from her purse.  I found the phone.  Only one number was being called. That number belongs to Ray Lambert.  Over 54 hours of calls to that phone.

Pretty sleazy.

I asked her to leave immediately.  I was pissed.  The midnight walk of shame.  That was a little satisfying.

The logical consequences that follow are all self inflicted.

Fuck them both.

A few pictures were on the phone.  I would classify it as a probable sext.  She is very upset about this and claims it is not her ass.  I may let the audience decide.  Why would you have this on your phone?  There was also another photo of a hotel room.  An invitation?  From her perspective she is a cheater, liar and thief and  but not a sexter. That would be bad.

If you cheat on your cheater is that cheating?  Marie has made some references that men who take certain medications can't get it up.  I never had that problem.

A little scandal for the superintendent of Ohio Connections Academy and Charter school leader of the year.

I will leave the picture to your imagination.  It is availble on request......

Worried about the happy ever after

I wonder who lives at this house?

I wonder when she was promoted?

I wonder if this conflict was reported to Pearson?

I wonder if this is ethical if you are in a position to promote someone;

Oh she was married with two sons at home.

Hmmm....

Ray Lambert was divorced a year before.  Marie started to meet with her attorney about the same time.

I wonder how his ex and 7 children would feel about dishonor and cheating?

I hope they have cold AC and are enjoying the cultivated stone.

Subject: Response
1.  We would like the manufacturer's specifications for the installation of the cultivated stone on the home at 4250 Glenstream and a more complete response to the moisture entrapment issue.

2.  The tree in the backyard would not endanger the house but it could injure occupants of the backyard

3.  I would like to know the credentials of the people working on the HVAC.  Are they licensed heating and colling professionals?

Boycott Pearson Education

http://unitedoptout.com/boycott-pearson-now/

Someone should check out the selling price of Connections Academy to Pearson.  Ohio's tax and school funds are making some people rich.

Kind of like Watergate:  Follow the money!

Private equity firm Apollo Management LP is selling Baltimore online schooling company Connections Education LLC to U.K. publishing giant Pearson plc for $400 million, Pearson said Thursday, Sept. 14.
Apollo and Sterling Partners, the target's minority owner, will pocket nearly the entire amount because Connections Education has little debt, a person familiar with the company said.
The two PE firms evidently will turn a profit. In September 2004, according to a financial filing, they paid $12 million to buy the business from Educate Inc., a K-12 education services provider Apollo had purchased for $283 million the previous year.
It isn't known how much additional capital, if any, New York-based Apollo and Baltimore-based Sterling have put into Connections Education since then.
Apollo executives were unavailable for comment. Sterling did not return a message seeking comment.
Connections Education has enjoyed spectacular growth over the past seven years. It posted less than $6 million in revenue the year Apollo and Sterling bought it.
This year, revenues are likely to hit $190 million, Sterling said.
Through its Connections Academy business, the company provides online instruction to more than 40,000 students in grades K-12. It operates "virtual" accredited public school in 21 U.S. states.
"Virtual schooling is an attractive choice for a growing group of American parents, and in the next decade it will take off in other countries," Pearson chief executive Marjorie Scardino said in a statement.
London-based Pearson, a textbook publisher that also owns the Financial Times newspaper and Penguin books, said it expects the acquisition to boost per share earnings after one year.
Pearson's shares closed up 32 pence, or 3%, at 1,100 pence ($17.42) Thursday on the London Stock Exchange.
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP's Robert Dickey, Danielle Davis and Ji Kim were the buyer's counsel. Pearson has no outside financial adviser.
Apollo and Connections Education were advised by Barclays Capital bankers Pat Ives, Neil Meyer, Adam Nordin and Jason Williams, and by Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP attorney John M. Scott.
Connections Education is one of several businesses that were once part of Sylvan Learning Systems, an organization that was the focus of various deals involving private equity shops.
In 2000, Apollo invested $80 million in Sylvan; three years later it traded its stake in Sylvan for a controlling stake in Sylvan's K-12 tutoring operations. That operation was rechristened Educate Inc. In 2006 Apollo sold Educate to Sterling, Citigroup Private Equity and other investors for $518 million.
In 2007, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP and Citigroup Private Equity bought what remained of Sylvan -- its Laureate Education Inc. post-secondary education operation -- for $3.8 billion.

Hi Beverly,

We would like to see the home on Five Mile Road as soon as we can find a mutually agreed upon time.  The other homes we did not see yet seem to be further away than we find desirable.  We drove by those homes today and decided the Five Mile Road home is the one we would still like to see.  I appreciate your working with us.

Regards,

Marie
