A message from Marjorie

Pearson Owns Ohio Connections Academy

A Message from Marjorie

If we want Pearson to be known as a company that is brave, imaginative and decent, with everything these words imply, all of us have to conduct ourselves that way. That isn't always easy. It involves doing not only what is right for the business, but also what is right ethically, in the wider context of culture and society. It means not only abiding by the law, but also abiding by the highest principles of integrity, honour and concern for other people.
Of course rules can't always tell us the correct way to behave, but the principles outlined in our code of conduct are our starting point. They spell out our basic standards for conduct in Pearson - what we mostly already know and already do, what we expect of anyone connected with our company, and what we accept responsibility for doing when we become a part of the company.
Beyond these principles, I believe we can rely with confidence on the fact that Pearson employs people who know right from wrong and who have the morals, self-respect, professionalism and concern for others to do the ethical thing even when the circumstances are confusing.
Unfortunately, we sometimes encounter situations or become aware of behaviour which conflicts with our ethical standards. It's important that we address these incidents promptly and take corrective action. If you are concerned about any behaviour which seems to you to be in conflict with our code, it's important that you report it, either by using this website or by calling the toll-free whistleblowing hotline numbers provided. All reports will be entirely confidential and will be followed up by our Pearson Legal Counsel (Bob Dancy) and our Head of Group Internal Audit (John Brennan).
Thank you all for inspiring and confirming that confidence every day.
Marjorie Scardino
